The journey of having a career as an architect, traveling the world, facing a harrowing pregnancy, brought Sumi to identifying her true love for art. 

Growing up in India in a family rich in art combined with a heavy influence of math led her to choose architecture as career. Her love for travelling soon overpowered her career choice and eventually finding her life partner and their shared love for travel However, a smooth sailing backpacker's life fell into turmoil with a dangerously complicated pregnancy. The pain took Sumi into an incredibly dark phase of life. Only drawing saved her sanity and helped her heal, slowly but surely. 

Soon after the pregnancy, her artistic journey began when she started drawing portraits for her friends and family. Commissioning works eventually led to creating her own collection of pieces that she now displays in art shows and galleries. Her commissioned works have reached international patrons, including those from India, Norway, Denmark, Canada and the US. Sumi has participated in online juried events where several of her pieces have been displayed and won awards, including works like "Longing" and "Dandelion". 

Being an artist, Sumi's creative mind always wanders and searches for inspirations in everything she sees. Her current fascination is mixing black and white tones in nature that she experienced in the cold, dark, & snow covered landscape during her stay in Norway. She also believes that monochrome helps in seeing the fantastic beauty of details with more clarity.
