1998 Ayami moved to the USA for an apprenticeship program at the Johnson Atelier Stone Division in New Jersey. She was then hired as a full time Art Instructor/Sculptor in 2001. She assisted many artists with projects including such notables as Magdalena Abakanowicz, Jenny Holzer, Manolo Valdes, Barry X Ball, and many more. Ayami has exhibited in a number of group shows and solo exhibitions. In spring 2010 she installed seven large scale stone sculptures for a solo outdoor exhibition at The James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, USA. In addition, she juried sculpture exhibitions such as the New Hope Arts 2011 and Phillips Mill 2013. She was also invited as a panelist for “Three Dimensions: Hand or Digital” at Artists Talk on Art in NYC, 2010. In March 2013 Ayami had the opportunity to participate in the residency program at The Noguchi Garden Museum. There she conducted demonstrations of stone carving techniques, with a focus on her own unique approach to stone. In May of 2013 Ayami was invited to a symposium in the Netherlands where she made and exhibited four stone sculptures. In 2016 Ayami exhibited a definitive collection of her works from past decade as well as several new large works. Titled “Silence”, this solo exhibition was held at the Grounds For Sculpture in Hamilton, New Jersey, USA. Currently, Ayami is exhibiting an installation consisting of five of large works, titled “Cycle of Life”, at Tyler Park Center for The Arts in Richboro, Pennsylvania, USA. She currently works for the internationally renowned artist Jeff Koons as the stone finishing supervisor at Antiquity Stone LLC. She continues to work on her own sculpture in her home studio in Hopewell, New Jersey, USA. Ayami lives with her husband, artist Rory Mahon; and their two sons.
