MARGARET KOVAL
Margaret Koval’s paintings are informed by a prior a career in broadcast journalism and documentary film. They frequently emphasize urban spaces and indeterminate narratives with ambiguity and instability as major themes. Scenes are often borrowed from closed-circuit surveillance footage to capture a sense of unmediated street life. She enjoys finding beauty in slightly unsettling images and likes to make typical subjects of beauty slightly unsettling. Margaret studied painting at the Art Center in Pasadena, California and University of the Arts London before receiving her MFA from City & Guilds of London Art School.
