MARISSA BLOSSOM
Marissa Blossom is a painter and pinhole photographer living and working in central New Jersey. Since graduating from Principia College with an art degree in 2014, she has exhibited work both locally and internationally. Her work spans several mediums, from oil pastel to watercolor to pinhole photography. Even with such a range of mediums, her work is tied together by natural themes and playful color usage.
Marissa is an active member of the New Jersey Pinhole Club (NJPC), a group of avid pinhole photographers who exhibit work together at least once a year. Most recently her work was included in the NJPC’s "Time and Space" at Unique Photo in Philadelphia, as well as "Visible Traces: The Art of Pinhole Photography" at the Hutchins Gallery in Lawrenceville, NJ.
Color, light, memory, line. Places in time, the feeling of excitement at the gold light of the setting sun, the peace of a familiar field underfoot. My work is a love letter to these things; the little moments that bring joy to life. I work in mediums that let me get my hands dirty, building pinhole cameras from old tins and smooshing oil pastel onto used paper bags. The process is an exploration, celebration of color, and searching for snapshots that capture a particular feeling. Never quite knowing what the outcome will be is part of the purpose.
